With 76 years in the industry, SPL Foods are world leaders in the exportation of exotic foods following the start of Maurice Simon’s first retail butchery business in Oldham. Today, SPL provides European retail and food sectors including supermarket chains with a reliable source of quality authentic foods from around the world.
SPL’s main purpose is to provide excellent products and outstanding levels of service through their commitment to the relationships formed with their customers and their continuous investment in the products and the people that they work with.
SPL Foods needed a partner who could help navigate the complexities of Brexit and the introduction of CDS – something in which Denholm Good Logistics has extensive knowledge and expertise in. Denholm Good Logistics, also assisted in setting up CFSP, which allowed SPL Foods to have a faster release of goods from customs, improved cash flow, and electronic submission of declarations, in turn creating a more streamlined process.
SPL was impacted by COVID-19, the pandemic meant that with rates reaching an all-time high, and SPL took the commercial decision to reduce imports from the Far East and India. As a result of this, the priority for SPL Foods was to find the best freight forwarding rates whilst maintaining high standard service levels. Working closely with the Denholm Good Logistics freight forwarding team they were able to achieve this.
