Payroll Assistant

Location: Felixstowe

Role

This role sits with a small but growing HR function. This role will work alongside the Payroll Manager providing daily support and cover in times of absence or annual leave.

This role will cover the payroll for the DGL business located in the UK.

You will work with managers and employees across the business.

The Day-to-Day

  • Ensure all line managers authorise overtime and any payroll exceptions in line with cut off timings.
  • Enter all payments, checks and process accurate payroll data, coaching managers where necessary.
  • Submit correct data to HMRC on time and assist with any audits.
  • Send pension data on time and meet auto enrolment obligations.
  • Keep all HR and payroll databases and processes aligned and up to date.
  • Process tax code changes, P60’s, P45s and AOEs on time.
  • Provide comprehensive reports to the head of HR when required.
  • Process all leavers and new starters.
  • Process all contract variations accordingly.
  • Ensure companywide annual leave is managed effectively in line with policy.
  • Filing of all general information to employee files.
  • Maintaining and reconciling pensions for all staff.
  • Assist in maintaining HR documentation.
  • Assisting with right to work checks

AEO

All duties to be undertaken with reference to Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) procedures and work instructions.

The Person

  • 1-2 years’ experience in HR or payroll administration.
  • Excellent I.T skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Experienced with submitting payrolls in a timely manner.
  • A team player.
