Role
To support the continued growth and development of the company’s overseas partner network and strategic agency relationships.
The role will work closely with the Liverpool forwarding teams and under the guidance of the Director of Procurement and Director of Logistics South to strengthen overseas procurement, improve partner engagement, whilst developing new network opportunities.
This is a Central support role within the Overseas Partner and Network Development function, working across import, export and cross-trade activities, supporting procurement and overseas pricing activities across air, sea and road freight operations.
The role will assist with development of strategic overseas partnerships and agency agreements, supporting carrier, co-loader and overseas partner performance reviews, collaborating with operational and commercial teams in Liverpool to identify new opportunities and support network growth initiatives and partner engagement projects.
The Day-to-Day
- Obtain, negotiate and maintain competitive overseas buy rates
- Support RFQs, tenders and spot quotation activity
- Monitor partner performance, service levels and response times
- Assist with identifying new overseas agents and strategic network partners
- Build and maintain strong relationships with overseas offices, agents and suppliers
- Support development of new trade lanes and routing opportunities
- Liaise with operational teams to resolve overseas service or pricing issues
- Maintain accurate partner and rate information within internal systems
- Support overseas procurement reporting and KPI tracking
- Attend network meetings, supplier reviews and industry events where required
- Assist with onboarding new overseas partners and maintaining compliance documentation
AEO
All duties to be undertaken with reference to Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) procedures and work instructions.
The Person
- Understanding of international freight forwarding operations
- Knowledge of import/export processes and Incoterms
- Commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple quotations and deadlines
- Strong communication skills
- Experience using freight forwarding systems (CargoWise/CW1 advantageous)
- Strong Excel and data analysis capability
- Understanding of carrier and supplier procurement processes
