HR Advisor

Location: Felixstowe

Role

This role will be an important part of a growing HR function reporting directly into the Head of HR and working closely with one other HR Advisor.  As HR Advisor you’ll take full ownership of all HR related matters delivering professional, pragmatic, and commercially focused HR advice and guidance to line managers.  Partnering with our sites that are located across the UK, with a particular focus on our warehouse facility in Felixstowe.  This role will require you to really understand how our management teams and colleagues work, whilst coaching our line managers to deliver effective resolutions and ensuring they have all the tools they need to be able to operate in the best way possible.

This role will sit with a HR team of 4 reporting directly into the Head of HR.  The role will oversee our logistics operation, solid HR experience is essential.

You will work with line managers daily across the business as well as providing advice and guidance to employees.

The Day-to-Day

  • Overseeing all Employment Relations matters, including discipline, grievance, performance capability and change management processes.
  • Take full ownership of ill health capability / long term sickness procedures and occupational health referrals within business area.
  • Act as the first point of contact for line-managers within your remit and take ownership for handling and resolving HR queries / issues raised by line managers and employees respectively.
  • Provide robust written and verbal HR advice to stakeholders, prepare case related documentation, and ensure the correct and consistent application of HR policies and procedures across the business whilst adhering to procedural timescales.
  • Work closely with line-managers and department heads within the business, to ensure a consistent approach to people management and compliance.  Forming collaborative relationships across all levels of the business.
  • Support the Head of HR in reviewing and implementing new HR Policies & Procedures, in line with changes to relevant employment legislation, coach and support line-managers to ensure these are embedded across the business.
  • Strive towards continuous improvement of HR processes and Company practices within business areas, ensuring that the HR service delivery meets the requirements of, and can adapt to, the changing needs of a rapidly developing business policies and rules.
  • Working with the L&D team to regularly assess the training and development needs of line-managers in the business area – create and deliver targeted HR management training to reduce skill-gaps and improve manager knowledge.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of Employment Law and developments in HR best practice.
  • Oversee all recruitment activity.

AEO

All duties to be undertaken with reference to Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) procedures and work instructions.

The Person

  • Someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to create good strong working relationships with operational managers and employees.
  • A compassionate and people focused individual.
  • CIPD qualified level 5 with 3 years plus experience.
  • You will be forward thinking, innovative, solution focused and resilient.
  • You will be confident working autonomously using your own initiative and prioritising, whilst recognising the value and importance of collaborative working and being a good team player.
  • Willingness to travel and work from other sites.
  • Experience of restructuring, TUPE and change management beneficial
