Role
Working within the Brokerage Centre of Excellence (CoE) of 3PL provider Denholm Good Logistics. This role will support the completion of compliant, accurate and timely import and export declarations across road, sea and air freight, working closely with internal forwarding teams, customers, carriers and relevant authorities.
The successful applicant will play an important part in ensuring customs entries are completed from start to finish, helping to avoid border delays, reduce the risk of penalties, and deliver a reliable brokerage service for both external customers and internal departments supported by the Brokerage CoE.
The Day-to-Day
- Complete customs entries from start to finish for imports and exports.
- Process declarations across multiple modes of transport, including road, sea and air.
- Liaise with Port Health, Customs officials and other relevant parties on document checks and clearance requirements.
- Complete IPAFFS prenotifications for agrifood products where required.
- Check import tariffs, commodity codes, customs procedure codes and trade agreement requirements.
- Deal with queries quickly and efficiently, escalating issues where needed.
- Build effective working relationships with internal teams, external customers and key stakeholders.
- Ensure VAT, duty and customer invoicing requirements are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and support the implementation of more efficient working practices.
- Support compliance with customs regulations, UK and international law.
- All Duties to be undertaken with reference to Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) procedures and work instructions.
The Person
- Customs clearance experience, including familiarity with customs processes, customs systems and HMRC regimes.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately when handling complex documentation and data.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- The ability to work well as part of a team while also managing your own workload.
- A practical approach to problem solving and the confidence to raise issues of non-compliance.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- A flexible approach to working hours that supports departmental and customer requirements when needed.
