U.S. Port Strike Update on Port Operations

U.S. Port Strike Update on Port Operations

  • SHARE

As October begins, it’s important for those involved in the movement of goods across the U.S. to stay informed about the latest updates regarding port operations and potential strikes. Here, we provide an overview of the current situation based on updates from Seaboard Marine and H&M International Warehousing, Inc.

Seaboard Marine report, that anticipated strikes starting October 1 will affect containerised cargo terminals on the U.S. East and Gulf Coasts. Seaboard Marine terminals at PortMiami, Houston (Jacintoport Terminal), and Philadelphia (Penn Terminals) will remain fully operational.

However, operations at terminals in New Orleans, Savannah, Wilmington, and Brooklyn are also set to pause temporarily. Seaboard Marine warehouse activities across the United States will continue without interruption.

H&M International Warehousing, Inc. has also taken significant steps to minimise the impact of the potential disruptions, by working alongside U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the Port Authority of NY/NJ, and Marine Terminal Operators, H&M successfully secured as many examination containers as possible from the port. Ensuring all CES-designated containers that were available have been secured or are in transit.

Looking forward, H&M’s CES, warehouse, and yard operations will continue as usual, even if strikes occur at the NJ/NY seaport. There will be no changes to their operational hours for the foreseeable future. Cargo delivery gate hours will remain from 07:30 to 15:30, Monday through Friday, and they will continue offering the Late Gate/Night Pass option for deliveries outside regular hours. For these after-hour pickups, importers are kindly reminded to contact their Routing office before 14:30 to arrange this service.

These proactive measures by Seaboard Marine and H&M International Warehousing ensure the continuity of supply chains and help mitigate the impact on importers and exporters.

We will continue to bring you updates as they happen, keeping you informed so you can plan accordingly. Our U.S. team are on-hand to support your cargo movements and can help discuss options to minimise any disruption to your supply chain. Contact them on contact@denholm-logistics.com
